Chapter 4: The Skies of S7

On S7, looking at the sky was always different.

Our days were not lit by a single sun. Six suns moved around the planet, and each one covered the world with a different light. Some were soft and bluish. Others painted the mountains with golden or reddish colors. Sometimes all of them could be seen at the same time, and other times they appeared alone. At certain moments, two suns stood above the cities, and the domes cast double shadows over the gardens.

6 Suns S7
On S7, the light did not always come from the same place.

That is why the landscapes were always changing. There were forests that only shone under certain lights, and seas that seemed to wake up when one of the suns disappeared behind the living mountains of the northern hemisphere.

But the nights were even stranger.

When darkness arrived, the seven moons slowly began to appear in the sky of S7. The seven moons of S7 seemed like sisters. None of them was exactly the same, but all shared the same calm light, as if they had been born from the same dream.

Just as with the suns, there were nights when only one moon watched over the planet… and others when all seven filled the sky at the same time.

S7 7 Moons
Some nights, the sky seemed to remember forgotten things.

The ancient Sixevenians used to say that each moon kept a different memory of S7.

We never knew if that was true. But even the most advanced systems on the planet seemed to behave strangely when the seven moons appeared together above the cities.

That was when the Nimbis stayed silent the longest.

Some of them sat for hours on the highest platforms of the domes, watching space without moving. It seemed as if they were listening to something far away that the rest of us could not understand.

And there was one in particular.

A small Nimbi who always looked beyond the moons.

Looking at the Stars
Some dreams seemed to come from very far away.

Sometimes it disappeared for hours to watch the stars from the abandoned observatories in the south. Nobody knew exactly what it was searching for up there. But many were beginning to think that it dreamed of something that did not belong to S7.

With time, some Sixevenians began to wonder if there were other worlds beyond the six suns.

Different worlds.

Distant worlds.

Maybe even a planet covered with oceans and blue clouds...
