Chapter 15: Under the Light of the Three Moons

Image
Dawn in the waterfall village created a blue spectacle across the sky of S7. Although the light of the suns was beginning to color the tops of the giant trees, the seven moons were still visible in the sky like dim silver discs. The alignment promised by Sage Orom was getting closer. After saying goodbye to the tribe and receiving some supplies, the group set off in the cool morning air. Ramsi led the expedition, following the marks on his map; Iris walked beside him, bringing a calm and peaceful feeling to the group, while Jazzi, as usual, gently played her crystal branch, creating cheerful notes that set the rhythm of their steps. Behind them, Willity and Sixsevenin walked together, accompanied by Deri, who ran between the giant ferns, spreading his membranes to make little jumps through the air. As they left the waterfall's damp surroundings behind, the jungle began to change. The thick trees gave way to an area of low forest filled with translucent rocks that absorbed the morn...

Chapter 14: The Legacy of the Origins

Image
After the peaceful departure of the Guardian of the Mist and its baby, the air in the waterfall village slowly became calm again. The villagers, still amazed by what they had just seen, carefully came out of the oval homes inside the trees. The warriors had put away their light spears and were looking at Willity, Sixsevenin, and the whole group with great admiration. Sage Orom led the explorers inside his large circular home. The place smelled of fresh resin and wet earth, and its walls were decorated with hand-carved pieces of bark that told stories from long ago. Once everyone had taken a seat on blankets made from shining fibers, Orom's eyes immediately fell on the creature resting curled up beside Willity. The old man narrowed his eyes in surprise and slowly leaned forward. —By the pure springs of S7... —Orom whispered with great respect.— It has been many ages since my eyes have seen a shape like this. Willity gently stroked his companion's back, whose glowing scales made ...

Chapter 13: The Sage of the Jungle and the Old Friend

Image
The journey through the jungle under guard continued in tense silence. The warriors with metallic skin walked firmly around the group, keeping their light spears pointed toward the ground but never lowering their guard. —At least they don't seem cruel, —Sixsevenin whispered very quietly to Willity.— If they wanted to hurt us, they wouldn't have helped us out of the waterfall current. Willity nodded, watching Deri walk close to his legs, his membranes folded and his ears alert to every sound coming from the vegetation. Beside him, Ramsi adjusted the weight of his huge wet backpack, while Jazzi made sure her crystal branch did not shine too brightly and disturb the guards. After following a path surrounded by enormous glowing ferns, the jungle opened up to reveal a remarkable village. The homes were not made of stone or metal like those in the northern domes. Instead, they were oval structures built harmoniously into the trunks of the thickest trees. Dozens of inhabitants of the ...

Chapter 10: The Meeting at the Top of the Sky

Image
Hidden behind the thick moss-covered stone wall, Willity, Sixsevenin, and little Deri hardly dared to breathe. In front of them, at the top of the great stepped pyramid, the mysterious blue light continued to pierce the night sky of S7, illuminating a group of figures repeating that strange yet familiar greeting: palms facing upward, gently moving up and down to the rhythm of the words "Six Seven." —Should we go up? —whispered Willity, his eyes shining with excitement. Sixsevenin nodded silently, adjusting his orange robe. But before either of them could take a step, Deri let out a soft "Miiiauu!" and dashed upward, gliding over the broken steps with the help of his membranes. There was no turning back. When they reached the upper platform, the blue light surrounded them completely. It did not burn. Instead, it gave off a warm vibration, almost as if it were examining them. The figures turned toward them all at once. To the newcomers' surprise, the group consist...

Chapter 9: The Plain of Echoes

Image
Little by little, the three of them left behind the elevated terraces of the Lost City. The blue light still shone between the mountains, growing a little closer each day. Willity and Sixsevenin resumed their journey the following morning, shortly after breakfast, while the small creature accompanied them, jumping between the rocks and occasionally disappearing into the vegetation, only to reappear in front of them a short time later. They had left the highest part of the mysterious city behind, and before them stretched an immense plain covered with grass, roots, and the remains of ancient buildings, of which only the first foundations still survived. Over the years, vegetation had covered the old ruins so completely that they seemed to be just another part of nature. As they walked, they began to hear something strange. Whenever the wind passed through certain stones scattered across the plain, soft and deep sounds could be heard. They were not voices. Nor did they seem to come from ...
